Drip Irrigation Project for Chili Pepper Cultivation in Long An Province, Vietnam
This drip irrigation project was implemented for chili pepper cultivation in Long An Province, Vietnam, a region with a tropical monsoon climate characterized by hot, humid rainy seasons and dry periods.
The project supports smallholder farmers whose main income depends on chili pepper production. Traditional irrigation methods in the region often cause waterlogging during the rainy season and inefficient water use during dry periods, affecting crop yield and quality.
To solve these challenges, a modern drip irrigation system was introduced to improve water management efficiency and crop stability.
Project Location: Long An Province, Vietnam
Case Background: Chili pepper cultivation is the main source of income for local smallholder farmers. However, the rainy season often leads to crop waterlogging or diseases, and traditional irrigation methods are not suitable for this climate.Planting Scale: 35 hectares

Efficient water use in both dry and rainy seasons
Prevents waterlogging and soil degradation
Enables precise irrigation and fertilization
Suitable for smallholder and commercial farming
Improves long-term agricultural productivity
The drip irrigation system for chili pepper cultivation in Vietnam is not limited to chili farming. It is a flexible precision irrigation solution that can be widely used in different agricultural environments, especially for water-saving irrigation systems and high-value crop production.
This system is widely used in drip irrigation for vegetable farming, including tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, peppers, and leafy greens. As a micro irrigation system for vegetables, it provides consistent moisture directly to the root zone, improving crop uniformity, reducing water waste, and minimizing soil-borne diseases caused by over-irrigation.
The system is suitable for orchard drip irrigation systems such as citrus, mango, banana, grape, and apple plantations. As an efficient agricultural irrigation solution, it helps maintain optimal soil moisture, supports root development, and improves fruit quality, sweetness, and yield stability.
In protected cultivation environments, this system works as a greenhouse drip irrigation solution for crops like strawberries, chili peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes. It supports precise water and fertilizer management (fertigation system), making it ideal for modern precision agriculture irrigation systems.
The system is also suitable for cash crop irrigation systems, including tobacco, sugarcane, cotton, and medicinal plants. These crops benefit from controlled drip irrigation technology, which improves resource efficiency and increases commercial crop value.
As a water-saving drip irrigation system, it is highly effective in drought-prone or water-limited regions. It reduces evaporation and runoff losses, making it a reliable low water consumption irrigation solution for sustainable farming.
This system can be integrated with fertigation equipment to form a drip irrigation fertigation system, delivering nutrients directly to plant roots. It improves fertilizer efficiency, reduces waste, and supports precision farming irrigation systems for modern agriculture.
