Grape Drip Irrigation Project in Hami Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region

Project Location: Hami, Xinjiang, China

Case Background: The local area mainly focuses on cultivating high-quality grapes. It has an arid climate, and traditional irrigation methods waste water resources and incur high labor costs. The application of a drip irrigation system can effectively solve the problems of water resource waste and high labor costs.

Planting Scale: 1,200 mu (approximately 80 hectares)

• Drip Tape: Underground drip tapes are adopted, with a model of 16mm x 2.2mm, a dripper spacing of 30cm, covering the entire area.

• Number of Drippers: Approximately 6,000 drippers are installed according to different soil types and crop requirements.

• Filtration System: 2 coarse filters and 1 precision filter are installed to ensure water quality.

• Integrated Fertilizer Application Machine: An intelligent fertilizer application system is introduced for precise fertilization.

• Automatic Control: 8 automatic control valves are equipped to realize on-demand zoned irrigation.
  Results/Achievements:

• Water Conservation: The system has a significant water-saving effect, with the water resource utilization rate increased by more than 60%.

• Grape Sugar Content: Through precise drip irrigation, the grape sugar content has increased to 18°Brix, improving the quality of the fruit.

• Labor Reduction: Labor demand has decreased by 30%, greatly reducing labor costs.

• Output Value Increase: The annual output value has increased by approximately 25%, bringing considerable benefits to farmers.
